£1000 Raised for Refuweegee
The final results of our 2023 Festive Fundraiser Pull Ups challenge are in!
Our incredible community has raised £1000 for charity.
In December, we challenged our members to complete 1000 Pull Ups collectively, while raising money for local Glasgow charity Refuweegee and they’ve only gone and smashed it with a whopping 1950 Pull ups!
Every winter we ask our members to nominate a charity for our Festive Fundraiser and following the success of our 2022 efforts (raising over £770 for Glasgow Women’s Aid) we were delighted to see so many of our members come forward with great nominations- but there was one overwhelming favourite: Refuweegee.
About our chosen charity: Refuweegee is a community-led charity that gives people a way to welcome and embrace those newest to arrive. They strive to ensure that people who have been forced to flee their homes arrive in Scotland to a warm welcome and some of the things that will help them to feel more at home here. They deliver over 150 welcome and essentials packs every week - from food and clothing to toiletries and pushchairs.
We chose to make the focus of this year's fundraiser Pull Ups because of their great benefit to all of the disciplines we train at ALT: Working on your core and upper body conditioning is a great way to improve your Pole, Aerial and all round fitness… but of course they’re not everyone’s favourite!
Our members brought a huge amount of enthusiasm to this year’s fundraiser and while our instructors ensured that plenty of Pull Ups were completed in the conditioning section of our classes throughout the month, we were so impressed to see everyone adding to our grand total in our Open Training sessions and at home.
Our final total for the Festive fundraiser was 1950 Pull Ups completed and £1000 raised for Refuweegee. We are so proud of all of our amazing members who completed pull ups, donated and raised awareness of Refuweegee. A massive THANK YOU to all who took part.
