Galentines Spotlight: Emma & Gina

Welcome to our ‘Gym Besties’ series where we’re shining a spotlight on the amazing friendships we’ve seen blooming among our members in celebration of Galentine’s Day

How did you meet? Were you friends before you joined ALT or did you meet in class?

Emma says: We met in class, mostly through Carly's flexibility classes and more recently out pole sessions together. Gina is literally a ray of sunshine with her yellow hair and has a personality to match, I was instantly drawn to how bubbly and easy going she was!

Gina says: We met at ALT fitness at Saturday morning flexibility classes! It was always such a perfect way to start the weekend and Emma would always make me laugh with the facial expressions she would pull!

What ways has training at ALT has improved your friendship?

Emma says: There's nothing better than being distracted from the discomfort of stretching by a little humour! Gina and me play off each other well, breaking the ice or having a laugh to get through the hard bits.

We also learn so much from eachother through classes, Gina's naturally very sassy and graceful with her dance moves, I'm forever asking her HOW DID YOU DO THAT?!

But being the bossy teacher I'm quite good at barking out instructions to keep us in sync while filming our choreo.

Gina says: ALT is just such a positive and safe space and no matter what the day might have thrown at you being able to go there and laugh and spin with friends is just the best! There is no better stress relief!

What benefits have you seen from training at ALT?

Gina says: I have definitely gained a lot more confidence and respect for my body from training at ALT fitness as well as having found a community of people that make me feel welcomed and valued.

Emma says:
I'm physically stronger and more flexible than I have been in years, but the biggest thing I take from alt is how much my confidence has grown and how many genuine friendships I have made. I still keep in touch with my pole pals from over 10 years ago so I certainly won't be letting my alt pals go anytime soon! Haha, yer stuck with me.

What's your favourite thing about ALT?

Gina Says: That I feel instantly happier as soon as I set foot in the space! Even on days when I am tired or a bit low being able to engage in play and movement with such a great group of people is always worth it!

Emma says:
THE PEOPLE! every instructor is honestly badass in all their own unique ways and you'll never find a better supportive community to hype you up.

What would you say to someone thinking about trying Aerial/ Pole/ ALT?

Emma says: JUST DO IIIT!  Aerial has changed my life in so many ways, I cannot recommend it highly enough to absolutely anyone. And it does suit ANYONE. Short, tall, bountiful, petite, shy, bold, regardless of gender you will find your people and be welcomed with open arms.

Gina says: DO IT!!! It will be the best money you ever spend ♥️

Anything else you want to add?

Emma says: My favourite classes with Gina is always open training right after a pole flow class, we have a great laugh being silly and getting to enjoy breaking down the choreo we just learned.

The goblin runs back and forth from the camera make me laugh every time. She just lifts my mood and I always walk away from the studio buzzing!

Gina says: Honestly I always look forward to Wednesday nights to just be able to go and dance with Emma ♥️ I always found dancing intimidating not coming from a dance background but being able to do it with a friend in such a relaxed space makes it so much more approachable!
